In progress, nearly complete.
“No De” (Non Deficere)…Latin for
Never Give Up.
This piece was designed to represent a modern interpretation of Lady Liberty. The Statue of Liberty was gifted to the U.S. to commemorate the ending of slavery. It actually had nothing to do with immigration. The “Give me your poor…” phrase was added many years later by an outside source.
In this version, she is nearly surrounded on all sides by the beast of corruption. Big tech, big pharma, corrupt government, and biased media, those who wish us harm.
She is retreated to a rugged wind swept pinnacle to make a last defense. While protecting the greatest documents every written by man for man, she struggles to maintain her very virtue. Under her right foot, she holds the red rose of socialism at bay, while at the same time she protects a symbol of rebirth and resilience; a sprig of Lebanon Cypress.
Indeed, she has been forced to lay down the torch, and pick up the Sword.
This is the clay stage. Later to be cast in white patinaed bronze. The final composition will actually be taller, and missing details added.
